Question:
I am trying to update the start date on an agreement but I receive an error message, or the field is greyed out and cannot be edited. Why?
Answer:
The fact that the start date cannot be changed is a security feature in the system. This is because the start date is used as the basis for several calculations linked to the agreement.
The start date may be locked in the following situations:
The contract period has been reviewed or locked
The agreement has been saved and used in calculations
A renewal has already been created for the agreement
Once any of this has occurred, it is no longer possible to backdate or change the start date, since this could create errors in the system’s calculations going forward in time (e.g. end date, termination date and renewal logic).
This is a common question from users, and work is ongoing to make the process easier in the future without risking incorrect calculations.
Temporary solution:
If the start date is incorrect and needs to be corrected, the current solution is to:
Remove the agreement from the system
Upload the agreement again
Enter the correct start date from the beginning
The issue therefore usually occurs when an agreement is saved or extended, and you then try to change the start date afterwards.
